Who We Are
Devon Energy is a Devon-wide community energy company founded and owned by the network of local-level community energy enterprises in Devon, UK. We want to make a meaningful contribution to the Devon Carbon Plan to achieve net-zero carbon emissions as soon as possible and earlier than 2050. We develop, finance and own renewable energy projects in Devon for the benefit of the local community. This means keeping annual profits within the local economy to fund further low carbon technologies. Our ambition is to deliver the transition to carbon neutral whilst tackling fuel poverty and supporting our vibrant communities.

We want a Devon where renewable energy is locally owned, community-led and delivers lasting social, economic and environmental benefit.
Mission
To enable and scale locally owned renewable energy through strategic partnerships that develop and operate projects while retaining ownership, value, and decision-making firmly rooted in Devon.
Our Aim
In 2019, all of Devon’s local authorities including Dartmoor and Exmoor National parks declared a climate emergency. Our aim is to take action to address the climate emergency and to deliver the Devon Carbon Plan by creating a Devon that runs entirely on green energy.
We believe that, rather than buying power from outside the country, we can produce clean, locally owned energy here in Devon. This will bolster our local economy, retaining approximately £1.76 billion in our county and creating a local industry and jobs across the region.
Devon Energy is a not-for-profit community interest company. We were set up by the Devon Community Energy Network, a collaboration of 23 local energy organisations in the county who own a number of renewable energy generators, advise on energy efficiency and fuel poverty and deliver climate education. We are wholly owned by Devon’s local community energy companies.
Our purpose is to develop community owned renewables projectsacross Devon at scale, to address climate change.
Our community group members work with the communities local to our projects, helping to identify new projects. All surpluses generated by Devon Energy will be re-invested in carbon reduction in Devon.
We will use our profits to retrofit homes and business, making us warmer, healthier and helping people out of fuel poverty.
Alistair Macpherson
Alistair is Chief Executive at PEC and has led the management and development since its inception in 2013. His personal contribution to the development of the Community Energy sector led to a 2016 Community Energy Award as 'Community Energy Champion', and the 2017 Green Energy Award for 'SW Sustainable Energy Champion'.
Kate Royson
Kate Royston is Director of Tamar Energy Community (TEC). She is an experienced freelance researcher, facilitator and community developer. Kate has been working in the community energy field since 2011 and was a TEC founder. She helped form and chaired the S.W. Devon Community Energy Partnership (SWD CEP) from 2012 and has helped lead its transition into the Devon Community Energy Network (DCEN) and the Devon Energy Collective (DEC)
Kutahya Cherry
Kutahya is a Partner at Foot Anstey and Head of Property within its EPIC (Energy, Projects, Infrastructure and Construction) team, advising clean energy developers, investors and funders on complex real estate and site assembly matters across solar, storage, wind and grid infrastructure projects nationwide.
Als Parker
Als Parker is an experienced renewable-energy developer with a long-standing commitment to community-owned energy. Her work spans renewable-energy projects across the UK, including founding Southill Community Energy in Oxfordshire and helping deliver its 4.5MW community-owned solar farm.
Now a Director of Devon Energy Collective, Als works with communities, landowners and technical partners to develop locally owned renewable-energy projects, particularly solar and onshore wind. She brings practical experience of taking projects from early feasibility and community engagement through the technical, commercial and development stages needed to make them deliverable.
Her work in Devon forms part of a much wider career in community energy, focused on enabling communities to play an active role in the transition to clean energy and to retain a meaningful share of the benefits generated locally
Dan Turner
Dan Turner is an energy professional specialising in community energy, innovation and sustainable development. With experience at PEC and Apricity Sustainability Consulting, he advances locally led renewable projects, flexibility solutions and inclusive business models, helping communities accelerate the transition to a resilient, low-carbon energy system through strategic partnerships and investment.
